About Alice Mitchell

Alice Mitchell is the pen-name of Alison Mitchell born in 1951 in West Yorkshire. Her married name is now Harrop. She formerly lived and worked in North Wales but is now retired from her professional occupation as a medical doctor and has moved back to her roots in Bronte Country.

Her first novel (Instead of Eden)won a Betty Trask Prize and was published in 1985. by W.H. Allen.
She has recently published   a mediaeval historical novel entitled THE MORTIMER AFFAIR – JOAN DE  JOINVILLE’S STORY. This is now available to order on You Caxton Publications and Amazon plus Waterstones online.

It is a tale of the political Intrigue in  Edward II’s disastrous reign but seen through the eyes of Roger Mortimer’s wife and offering an alternative ending to the King’s life.

Alice  is a Guardian reader, animal lover and a Pro- European member of the Labour Party.
